LARGE CAR TAKEOVER ON THE TARMAC

Large Car Takeover on the Tarmac is an annual working-class truck show held every year on the third full weekend in July at Rantoul National Aviation Center in Rantoul, Illinois.

Hosted by Large Car Takeover Company, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The event celebrates the hard-working men and women of the trucking industry while raising funds to support local charitable causes and keep the show going year after year.

This is a family-friendly event centered around the working truck. With 200+ semis on site, acres of spacious show parking, and room to safely enjoy the trucks, the atmosphere is built for drivers, families, friends, spectators, and supporters alike. Just like a good old fashioned family reunion! Whether you’re showing, supporting, or just passing through, we'd love to have you at our show!

The History of our Show

Many people are unfamiliar with the history of the Rantoul Aviation Center.  Prior to 1993 it was an active United States military base named Chanute Air Force Base.  It was commissioned in May of 1917 during World War I as one of 32 Air Force technical training bases across the United States.  It’s a very large and open facility that covers over 1,100 acres, and its perfect for a truck show. 
The former truck show was called “TopGun Large Car Shootout”. The show’s founders, Tom and DaVeda Reitz put on the show for 18 years. Tom passed away in 2018 and their daughter Dena also passed Away just a few months later. Ms. DaVeda and her crew continued the show until she announced her retirement at the show in 2025.
After that show several people from Chi-Town Large Car (Kris Santoianni), Summershine Supplies (Steve Summers), Pride Truck Wash (Jay Bryant), Diesel Pride (Mike
Sanchez) and Roger Lake Trucking (Donna Lake) formed the new Non-Profit Large Car Takeover Company to continue this awesome show for years to come.
